TERRACE, B.C. – Ksi Lisims LNG and the Kitselas First Nation are proud to announce the signing of an Impact Management and Benefit Agreement (“IMBA”) – a milestone that highlights the transformational, multi-generational opportunities available to Indigenous communities across northwest British Columbia. The IMBA reflects one of the priorities of Kitselas’ leadership to secure long-term benefits for its citizens.

The IMBA marks the first of its kind for the project, establishing a formal framework for how Kitselas citizens will share in the project’s long-term economic and community benefits. It also reflects a broader movement among Indigenous Nations in the region to take a leadership role in shaping Canada’s economic future and ensuring that once-in-a-generation opportunities for their members are realized.

"Building prosperity starts at home, with our people, and on our lands," said Glenn Bennett, Elected Chief Councillor of the Kitselas First Nation. "We’ve worked hard to ensure this agreement reflects the priorities of our community and sets us up to benefit meaningfully for many decades to come. This is a moment of opportunity in Canada. The Ksi Lisims LNG project has created a pathway to prosperity for B.C.’s northwest. The Kitselas people are proud to take these critical first steps in ensuring we are at the forefront of a new era of Indigenous economic leadership."

The IMBA includes a targeted investment to expand access to affordable, flexible childcare for Kitselas families – a priority identified in early engagement that supports both workforce readiness and overall quality of life. It’s just one example of how Ksi Lisims LNG is working with participating Indigenous communities to co-develop benefits that are rooted in local needs and long-term community vision.

"This is a significant step forward – not just for Ksi Lisims LNG, but for Indigenous-led economic development in Canada," said Eva Clayton, President of Nisga’a Lisims Government.

"Our congratulations to the Kitselas Nation for helping lead the way at a pivotal time for our project and for our country’s future prosperity. Their leadership sends a clear signal that First Nations communities in this region are ready to move forward, take their place at the centre of Canada’s economy, and ensure that Indigenous people are the ones defining our economic future."
